Description

Elias as Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Costume made by

This was the first "armor" that I've ever made. :D It took a lot of time to come up with the pattern pieces and to cut out and sculpt all of the details. There's a lot of work and love put into this costume. I used faux leather vinyl and foam to make the armor pieces. I cut all of the raised details out of the vinyl and made the rounded jewels on the belt, arm guards, shoulder piece, and headpiece out of Model Magic and Sculpey clay. I sewed and glued the details on. I painted the base armor with several coats of dark gray paint, used a bright gold for the raised details, and a darker gold for the painted on details. I hand painted all of the gold parts and weathered them with matte black paint so it was a very time consuming process. I brushed on a few coats of clear varnish over everything too. The separate armor pieces fasten together with velcro, belts, and elastic.

The wig was more like a sculpture than a wig and I enjoyed working on it. I sewed foam pieces to the wig base and covered them in hair with glue to create the curl rows. I made the forehead jewel out of Sculpey and Model Magic, and the little beads coming out of it are metal painted gold. The little pieces that the chains are attached to and the big arch in the back are made of foam sheets with details I cut out of the vinyl fabric I used for the armor. The stick-like pieces are made out of painted wood. I made the earrings out of clip-on hoops, vinyl, and Model Magic for the jewels. I recently attempted to dye the wig a more natural shade but the glue in the fibers interfered. I may use paint to change it in the future.

I painted the ears and a pair of gloves to match the Ganondorf makeup. I painted the black nails on the gloves too. Haha. I modified gloves he already had for the black fingerless gloves on top.

I sewed all of the clothing pieces on the costume. The top is a basic shirt with fur trimmed short sleeves, attached long sleeves underneath, and a pleated hem. I hand painted the gold design all along the bottom of the shirt and used red bias tape on the shirt, pants, and shoes. I painted a subtle design on the black pants with glossy black paint so it shows up when the light hits it. I also painted the designs on the white arm and chest pieces and weathered them light brown in some places. I painted the gold symmetrical decoration on the back of the cape and lined it in red fabric that I added a black gradient to. It is gathered at the top and a weathered the hem. The shoes are modified slip-ons that I painted dark gray, covered in fabric, added armor to, and weathered. I'm probably missing something, but think that's about it!

Hi, I just found your Ganondorf Cosplay and I have a question: how did you make the crown? Because I'm doing him for my exam and still got no real clue how do make that nice thing on his head.

Greetings
